Unfinished artwork.

'Superficially the painting shows Orpheus in a red scheme giving a recital to a number of persons (bluebirds symbolise notes and evoked feelings). Persephone (blue scheme) is asking Pluto not to take (or to release) Eurydice. On the left Orpheus leads forth a Eurydice who is not only coming back to life but dying at the same time as Orpheus turns to look at her. Orpheus, now part of the landscape, turns away his head in despair and throws down his lyre." PBB. These complex concepts were unfinished, but the work was framed in order to maintain its shape.
