P.B.B. writes:"Inspired by the Stanzioni 'Portrait of a Woman' shown in the Royal Academy's 'Painting in Naples' Exhibition, 1982, and having a desire to own it, the next best thing was to make a copy, with variations. Stanzioni was influenced by Caravaggio, and also Artemesia Gentileschi". Keen to advise that this is no attempt at forgery, he placed the Brand family crest on the left of the painting.
