This is an outline drawing for painting "Death of Hippolytus". Paul made two versions of this painting. The imagery includes terrified horses and a figure lying under the remains of a cart (chariot). This could be a subconscious reference to the accident that killed his sister the artist witnessed as an 11-year old.
