Some of the several remaining drawings made in preparation for the paintings that illustrate the ballet (Cat. Nos 286 - 288). Due to poor health he was considering this would be his last work (but went on to undertake Peer Gynt and 'American Diplomacy' after this was completed). Some of the drawings were shown at the open exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London.
