Formerly known as "The Waterman" this was painted while the artist was living on board "Cunegonde" (Seen as the white foredeck at the base of the picture.) He is using palette knife with flat planes as in several other paintings such as "Nude in Saloon" 0177,  "Head of Barbara" 0128, and, later "Mirror Image" 0094.
