PBB was doing a series of landscape paintings in the area - while walking along the pathway his access was blocked by builders. He struck up a friendship with the owners, who subsequently became lifelong friends, and this painting was made of the cottage before building work was completed. (NB Image presented here is reproduced from a photocopy.)
