Although quite reclusive in the last few decades of his life, on occasions PBB would travel and invariably be inspired enough to take photographs, and create final oil(/acrylic) paintings in the months following his journeys. This particular journey to North Wales was motivated by a reunion with an old friend from the Air Force. The painting is also known as "Trevor Rock" and was bought by a dentist for the patients in the waiting room to have something to look at.
