This rather terrifying version of the famous cat was produced shortly after a break-in which shook the artist's confidence. Nonetheless, at that time he was asked to donate some works for charity auction for which he painted several pieces on a sale or return basis, and this was one of those, donated in 1997. Unfortunately the organisers did not advise as to the outcome of the auction so its whereabouts is unknown - see also 'Gardening Girl' (Cat. No. 290).
